What Are You Hiding?

by Vicki Garcia on October 9, 2009

Most of us are hiding something.  You know, the parts of you that you don’t want anyone to see or know about.  The parts that you conveniently skip over when you are getting to know someone.  The part about your fears, your insecurities, your secret passions, etc.  I know that it has always been a challenge for me to truly let people see me and know me.  I give just enough of myself to not seem stand-offish.  At least that’s what I used to do.  The problem with holding back the real you, is that you can’t truly connect with anyone.  It’s very lonely.  You feel misunderstood most of the time.  Well of course you feel misunderstood!  You don’t let anyone know you!  And by “you”, I mean me!

I am practicing being real, letting my light shine.  Being authentically me, warts and all.  Hey, some people love my warts!  :)

I got tired of being misunderstood and feeling lonely and not having the deep, meaningful relationships that I craved.  I started sharing more of me, telling my truth, but only in safe places and with safe people.  You know what happened?  People liked me even when I showed them what I’m really made of!

Wow.  What a pleasant surprise!  Now, of course, not everyone is going to enjoy you coming out of your box and shining your light and gettin your mojo on.  Some wont like it because they don’t know how to do it for themselves and seeing you do it can be scary!

That’s ok.  That is why you start out slowly and with safe people.  As your confidence grows you wont be as worried when someone isn’t feelin’ who you are.  It is no reflection on you.  It is a reflection of their own fear.  Sad, but true.

Come to my Kick Ass Coach and share who you are, leave comments, leave questions.  You can safely practice here, with me!  We can look goofy together!

It’s worth the fear and the anxiety that can come with letting people see you.  Stop hiding!  Be you, no apologies!

I double-dog-dare you!

Rock it out girlie! You know I am all for risking and speaking ones truth. At first it is about baby steps…then you get your stride and life suddenly becomes about possible vs impossible. Proud of you! You kick “ass” ;)
