Growing Pains

by Vicki Garcia on October 13, 2009

I am experiencing some serious growing pains right now with my business and my personal development. It can be painful and challenging and it is sooooo worth it!

Where in your life have you experienced growing pains but didn’t allow yourself to feel it and move through it? Sometimes when we experience these pains we do whatever we can to make them go away. Unfortunately, the pain may go away but so does the growth opportunity.

Instead, feel it. Relish it. Know that it means something bigger for you. You are growing. Here are some tips for how to make it through the pains and to stick with it so you can experience the growth that comes with it!

· Be extra gentle and compassionate with yourself: You are in pain so now is not the time to be hard on yourself or beat yourself up for how you’re feeling. By the way, I recently needed to be reminded of this when I was not giving myself the space and compassion I needed in order to grow.

· Know, believe and remind yourself that the pain is an indication that you are headed toward a breakthrough!

· Take some kind of action. It doesn’t really matter what it is. Have you been putting something off? Do it! Even if it’s just a phone call that you’ve been avoiding, you will get a boost in your self-confidence by completing something.

· Acknowledge yourself! Write down what you have already accomplished. Write down any new way of thinking you’ve embraced. Write down any little thing you have done. The little things are the most important and most often overlooked.

· Journal! Get out a pen and paper and start writing. Write exactly what comes into your mind. You’ll be amazed by the messages your unconscious mind will send you when you open up to hearing them.

If you’re experiencing growing pains of your own, YAY for you! You are on your way to something bigger for yourself. I really would love to hear about them if you’re willing to share with me.
